The Men’s Club Championship was held at Elk Rapids Golf Club on August 26th and 27th. There were 21 players competing. The event started on Saturday with an 18 hole stroke play qualifier that determined the 3 flight final match-play matches on Sunday.
Championship Flight | Nick Green defeated Brain Ames – 4 holes up with 2 to play.
First Flight Championship | Greg Gorno defeated Steve Polemitis -1 hole up.
Second Flight Championship | Dale Wimmer defeated Jim McKimmy – 4 holes up with 3 to play.
22 ladies participated in the Elk Rapids Golf Club Women’s Club Championship this year! After 9 holes of stroke play in 90° hot and muggy weather cocktails and dinner were enjoyed on the patio, while sharing stories of our wins and woes on the course. Pamela Smith won the closest to the pin contest on hole #8.
When all the scores were turned in, Kristi Newer and Karen Kies had the two lowest net scores. Char Hansen and Adele Reiter had the two lowest gross scores.
After 9 holes of match play on Wednesday morning Kristi and Karen had to play an extra tie breaker hole and Karen Kies won the title of 2023 Women’s First Flight Champion!
Char and Adele were neck and neck all the way through 8 holes. On the ninth hole Char Hansen was able to sink her putt and won the title of 2023 Women’s Club Champion!
Thanks to all the ladies that participated this year, you are all winners!
37 men and 3 ladies participated in our first ever Sr Club Championship Tuesday September 12th and Wednesday the 13th.. Tuesday’s round was played in less than perfect conditions, but that made way for a beautiful fall day of golf on Wednesday.
The ladies flights were reduced to a single flight due to low participation. There were three flights for male participants which made for some exciting results coming down the stretch on Wednesday.
